Flu Clinics 2021

** Flu clinics - Tain & Fearn Area Medical Practice **

We have made a change to how we invite patients to our flu clinics this year.

The model used for our Covid vaccination clinics was so successful that we have decided to use this for the flu clinics. You will therefore not receive a letter from the practice but instead will receive a phonecall when it is your time to be invited in for your flu vaccination.

As per the Covid model we will be contacting patients in the order of the most elderly and vulnerable patients first and working our way down the patient list. We will start with the Over 75 year old patients and then the 65 - 74 year olds, followed by patients classed as clinically At Risk between the ages of 16 and 64 years old (including unpaid carers) and finally the 50 to 65 year old patients.

Pre-school children will also be invited by practices.

If you are housebound, and unable to attend the health centre for medical reasons, please contact reception and you will be added to the NHS Highland housebound vaccination team list.

PLEASE DO NOT PHONE THE PRACTICE TO MAKE APPOINTMENTS FOR THE FLU VACCINATION. This ties up the phone lines for other patients trying to get through for urgent medical issues. You will be contacted by one of the practice team over the next few weeks who will advise you of a date and time and which entrance of the building you need to come to.

Please do not attend the Health Centre if you are unwell or have any symptoms of Covid or have been in contact with anyone who has.

Thank you.

Practice Update - Lockdown Tier 2

Due to the current lockdown conditions we thought it would be best to update everyone on what is happening in the practice.

To keep everyone safe and minimise the footfall within the practice we will need to reduce our routine appointments but will remain open for urgent health issues. We will continue to offer telephone and video consultations and, where it is clinically necessary, you may be asked to attend the practice to be seen face to face.
Screening services such as childhood vaccinations and cervical smears will still be undertaken as per NHS Highland guidelines.

If you have an enquiry regarding COVID19 symptoms, Shielding or the COVID19 vaccination then please visit the NHS Inform website or phone the helpline on 0800 030 8013. If you think you have symptoms of COVID19 then you must self-isolate and book a test immediately. Tests can be booked via the website https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by phoning 0300 303 2713.

Covid Testing - Test and Protect

COVID TESTING: You should request a test only if you develop symptoms (fever, new continuous cough, loss of taste or smell) or you have been asked to by Test and Protect.
If you can’t access the site call 0800 028 2816
Please note this number only has access to the same testing slots accessed through https://www.nhsinform.scot/test-and-protect
These slots are released through the day so please check regularly to find a local slot or alternatively book a home test.
NHS 24’s ‘Ask Inform’ chat bot can help with many questions relating to coronavirus and testing too. NHS 24 does not arrange testing or deliver the results.
Stay safe. For more information visit www.nhsinform.scot

Coronavirus

The practice has closed the doors to reduce footfall in the practice. All calls are being triaged by telephone and if necessary patients will then be asked to attend the practice by a GP. If you have a new continuous cough and/or high temperature please stay at home and self-isolate for 10 days. Go to www.nhsinform.scot for advice or contact your GP practice by telephone during daytime hours. On evenings and weekends please contact NHS24 on 111.

We would be grateful if you could order your prescription online, by telephone if no access to internet, or by dropping your prescription in the postbox on the wall at the side of the front doors. Please nominate which chemist you would like to collect your prescription from. Pharmacies may be taking up to 7 days to process repeat prescriptions at the moment so please order 7 days before your medication runs out and only order what you need.

Thanks for everyone's cooperation and understanding.

New Physiotherapy Service

From Wednesday 29th January the way we answer the telephone will be changing.

A new Physiotherapy service will be starting in the practice late January/early February and so that the admin staff can make sure that you are allocated an appointment with the most appropriate Health Care Professional they will ask the patient for a brief indication of their problem at the start of the telephone call as per the Doctor's instructions.

The new Physiotherapy service will be available from Monday to Thursday at selected times and these appointments are only bookable on the day. The Physio can assess, diagnose and treat patients with musculoskeletal conditions of the spine, arms, hands and legs. Please see the attached leaflets for more details of conditions they can treat, how to book an appointment and what will happen at your appointment.
