DR GORDON'S RETIREMENT

We are sad to announce the retirement of Dr Sandy Gordon who will be leaving the practice on the 30th June. Sandy has been an integral part of the practice for the last 27+ years and has seen many changes in General Medicine during that time. His hard work, commitment, and dedication to his patients, colleagues and the many training Registrars that he has taught over the years are worthy of admiration. Sandy will be greatly missed by all at the practice and filling his shoes will be an almost impossible task.
For Sandy’s retirement Anta Scotland Pottery have designed a new range of tartan “Sandy Gordon”. This will hopefully be available from the end of June.
The practice have already received enquiries regarding making contributions/donations for Sandy and he has asked that if anyone would like to make a donation could they please donate to the Tain Youth Café in his name. This can be done by cash or cheque to the Tain Youth Café directly or by bank transfer (details available on request).
Here are a few words from Sandy himself -
“It has been my privilege to serve as a GP and GP trainer in this practice for 28 years. Originating in Sutherland, I have always had an affinity with this area and its people.
The time for retirement to spend more time with my family has arrived although I will still be active and living locally.
In the last few weeks, I have been overwhelmed by the amount of goodwill from staff and patients. Thank you all for this.
I will really miss people contact and the sense of fulfillment in supporting people on their medical journeys.
My replacement Dr Tom Brown starts in July and I know that the Practice is in good shape for the future”.
We hope you will join us in wishing Sandy all the best for a happy retirement.

PRACTICE CLOSURES

Tain & Fearn practice will be closed on Friday the 1st July, in line with other NHS Highland facilities, for an NHS Highland holiday. We will re-open on Monday 4th July at 8am.

During this brief closure if you require advice or help on any of the following matters here are the numbers to contact:

Medication advice / minor ailments - please contact your local pharmacy. (Balintore - 832291, Well 23-25 - 892002 and Well 5-9 - 892009). Please check with them for their opening hours.
Medical advice / minor injuries - please dial 111 for NHS24
Medical emergencies - please dial 999

OPEN DOORS !

On Tuesday the 3rd May the front doors to the Health Centre will be re-opening for all departments.
Although the rules for wearing masks have changed for many places Face Masks must still be worn in the Health Centre unless you are medically exempt as per NHS Highland guidance.
There will be a table just inside the waiting room with a supply of facemasks and hand gel and we would be grateful if these could be used upon entering the building.
The seating availability will be increased and we recommend that patients try to socially distance where possible.
These actions will help to protect vulnerable patients who might be in the waiting room and also to protect staff - if staff are off sick this impacts onto service provision unfortunately.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support, patience and understanding.

Covid Boosters

Updated information regarding Covid vaccinations can be found by the following methods -  phone the Vaccination Enquiry Hub on 01463 705531 or email them on nhsh.covidvaccine@nhs.scot  or by clicking on the following link for details of the Drop In Clinics https://www.nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk/COVID19/Pages/Vaccination.aspx

Please do not contact the practices regarding the Covid boosters as we have no further information available to us at this time and this will only tie up the phone lines preventing other patients from getting through with other medical matters.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and kindness at this time.
